You, me, and the open mic
This Thursday @ 7pm!
We need an open mic right now.
That classic venue for citizen participation. Where anyone can get up and share whatever is in their heart. Whatever is bugging them that day. Whatever propelled them to get up and out the door when otherwise they would’ve just pulled up the covers and said “forget it.”
Thurs 3/19, 7pm, Water Street Books, 125 Water St, Exeter, NH

They used to go by really fun names like “hootenanny” and “basket house.” We can make the world better and more fun just by giving people a reason to say, “C’mon, luv, we’re going to be late for the hootenanny!” Sounds like the kind of place where there’s wine, words, and song.1 Where people go to celebrate being alive, to howl at the moon and huzzah each performer. To encourage those who may be without words to find them, and to embrace those who keep their words to themselves.

A place to connect to people breathing the same air as you. A place to tuck the phone away, or to pull it out and capture and share another’s delight, another’s insight. To tell the person next to you that they smell good or to show empathy towards someone who definitely does not.
We need an open mic right now.
People need to hear that other people are still out there, keeping their heads up, their hopes up, their hands up. People need to hear that other people still care about them, even if it feels like the people who run the world right now no longer do. People need other people.
We need an open mic right now. And we need you to come.
This Thursday, March 19 at 7pm at Water Street Books, the greatest bookshop in the world.
And every month after that on the third Thursday.
125 Water St, Exeter, NH
Come read, speak, listen, love.
❤️
Adam
In our case, no wine.

Have fun!
