Not today, friend
A cousin chat that was not to be.
Sometimes the universe brings people together at just the right time. Timing and technology and inspiration all line up and allow a wonderful guest to join me on my weekly Friday live shows.
And sometimes the universe says: not today, friend. Sadly, this past Friday the universe had a bug up its butt.
I was scheduled to talk to Ben Lieber , a wonderful person and a wonderful cousin. You may recall his brother, Dan Lieber, was a guest on my show back in November:
With Ben, I was looking forward to a spirited conversation between two dads parenting special needs kids.
He has written about it beautifully here.
Well, the universe had other ideas. Somewhere between Substack’s rickety live streaming tech and New Orleans’ rickety Wi-Fi infrastructure (that’s where Ben and his family live), he sounded like he was trying to talk to me from a submarine somewhere deep beneath the Pacific.
Here’s a clip of what that was like:
So, no problem. We can pivot. We both have iPhones, we can both FaceTime, iPhones can now record with screen capture, brilliant. Except, something in the iOS privacy settings does not allow recording of audio on FaceTime calls. Who knew?
So Ben and I did in fact have a spirited conversation about two dads navigating the wonderful and challenging minefield of parenting special needs kids.
Sadly, you will never get to hear it.
Instead, please enjoy Ben reading an original story on a New Orleans horror podcast:
And enjoy Ben reading a hilarious original story at The All Ways Lounge & Cabaret in New Orleans.1
And hopefully the universe will see fit to allow us to be joined on a live show with acceptable, if not superior, audio quality, someday in the not too distant future.
Love you, cuz. See you back here real soon.
❤️
Adam
It is decidedly an adults-only story, which is why YouTube won’t allow me to post a preview image in this article. Enjoy anyway. :)
