I haven’t thought about you much at all...
...at least this week.
I know this is our time together.
The time when I share something from my life, from our lives, from my past, from my hopes for the future, from the distant, dank recesses of my brain.
I know this is our time together. And I treasure it, I do. I look forward to this little corner of my week when our little community gathers for these small moments of memoir. I open up the door of my world a little, and some of you gently push it open, come in, take a seat, sip some tea, and hang out for a bit.
I know this is our time together. But, if I’m being honest, this week I haven’t thought about you much at all.
I mean, that’s not exactly true. You’re always on my mind. There’s always more I want to put up here, more ways I want to engage with you. More anecdotes, more unanswerable questions, more frustrations, more hopeful gazes to the horizon.
And, at a certain point as the weekend winds down, my thoughts inevitably turn to: what will I put out there on Tuesday?
But this weekend, that didn’t happen.
Maybe it’s because our little one took ill with a minor cold, and all manner of weekend and Mother’s Day plans were banished as a result. Maybe it’s because I find my mind drifting toward some exciting future live show guests (AJ Wolfe on 5/29!) and live events (Todd Hearon @ 5/21 open mic!).
Or maybe it’s because I’m comforted by the thought that you all will be here, whether or not the inspiration joins us this week. Am I naive and complacent to believe that? Is it complacent to believe that an old friend will pick up the phone when you call? Or that your mom’s matzoh ball soup will warm your heart and body every time you eat it?
Regardless of what you call it, thanks for sticking around. See y’all Friday.
❤️
Adam
